It’s a boy!

Baby Del was born 5:49am December 21st at 7 lbs. 14 oz. and 20-1/2 inches! We had a successful water birth at home with no complications. Our first pediatric appointment is this morning! I’ll try to post stories of the birth in the next few days. Feel free to call as we are just chillin’ this week with the lil’ one! If we don’t answer, it means we’re sleeping or nursing, and we’ll call you back!

Congratulations and thanks for putting up such a sweet video! Be sure to go to waterbirth.org and register new Baby Del on the, “I Was Born in Water,” list on our website. The purpose of this is to gather at least 5000 babies, so that we can enroll the parents in a follow-up research study. We have applied for four years in a row for NIH funding. Maybe this will be our year - and even if not - we are ready to launch the online survey.

Dear Ben and Hope,
Baby Del is beautiful!!!. Thank you so much for sharing your birth story. It is a wonderful recounting of a gentle birth by calm, the HypnoBirthing mantra. Del’s calm gaze reflects the love surrounding him on his “birthday”. I would love to watch him grow through updated pictures.
