Restructuring in August

posted by Mama Hope | August 5th, 2008 in Daily Meanderings

Alongside all of my recent ethical soul-searching I’ve been planning a bit of restructuring and formalizing of my blog mission here at hippie dippie bébé.

You know that awesome feeling you get when you attack a chest of drawers or a file cabinet? No, not when you’re halfway through and the stuff is surrounding you in a giant semi-circle like troops on the attack! The part after that, when all your p’s and q’s are in a line, everything has its neat little place, and everything you’ll never use and are tired of looking at is in a big ol’ bag headed for the mission or the trash. That’s a good feeling, and that’s where I’m headed.

I’ve been thinking a lot about how to bring things at least a tad more centered around a theme here in the hdb neck o’ the woods:

How do I think I can make a difference? What do I really want to write about?

Likely, I’ll continue to dabble here and there whither the wind takes me, but I’d like to get a majority of my posts centered around a mission, something that I feel will be a valuable contribution and a personal vote for lifestyle choices that can make a difference in the world and the well-being of others.

I’ve also been doing some additional research in technical issues, nifty gadgets I’d like to put into play, things that are just plain not working, etc. etc… Because, as you know, there’s no sense standing here spouting like a big ol’ bag of hot wind if there’s nobody around that wants to hear it. Especially when that means time a way from darling bébé, the real life one.

Getting people to come see means both a lil bit of promotion and a nice-nice SEO-optimized blog-o-matic site, a task in and of itself.

(Yes, I know what you’re thinking: “Promotion? You mean by joining StumbleUpon, Digg, or Kirtsy and giving my favorite hippie dippie bébé posts a thumbs up I’m helping to spread the good green word? Wow, that’s a great idea!”)

So, there are many ideas, there is much to do, and there is… little time… as it were. Ever the simplification and low-stress advocate, I realize I have no choice but to sloooow down the posts temporarily, to make sure we keep the head from spinning whilst we get organ-dized as I like to mis-spell it. So for this month, I plan to post a bit less often.

Coming Soon to a Blawg Near You

Just to keep me focused, and to let you know what to expect until the mess is all cleaned up nice-like, here are the posts I do plan to get to this month:

  • First Steps to Simple Living: Do This First (for Sarah H.)
  • Zucchini Recipes and Nutrition Information (for Shelly)
  • Most Recommended Natural Teething Remedies
  • More pics and milestones on the ever-developing sweet Baby Del!

Thanks for joining me in my adventures and thanks for your comments and your thoughts! Have any preferences or opinions on the kind of things you’d like to see here at hippie dippie bébé? Feel free to comment on them here!

I’ve already envisioned a large part of where I’m headed, but it’s always good to get some fresh wisdom from “outer space,” as it were. Anything you feel is really missing from blog-land/internet-o-sphere that you’d like to see? Anything you think we’re doing a-ok here at hdb that you want me to keep around?

  1. I look forward to more in Simple Living, personally, and how to eliminate chemicals/toxins…you’ll know what you need to write about. Look forward to it!

  2. I can’t wait for the teething info, too. Any natural remedies, solutions, and ways to avoid common childhood illnesses would be great too. I enjoy reading this just to see where your mind is because it seems to usually be thinking and it helps me to keep mine going in the direction I’m striving for. Thanks again!!

  3. Elizabeth,
What’s funny is that you’ve hit on exactly where I plan to focus the blog in the future. I guess I’m that transparent, which is fabulous! Stand by for a mission statement that helps keep me on target, and glad to have you!

    Shelly,
Here’s that teething post! Natural remedies are also something I want to keep a focus on, as a part of keeping the unknown ingredients out and the simple, pure ingredients in. Appreciate your comments as always and being a help and inspiration to each other!
